Traveling to the Gulf of Thailand Islands can be more complicated than visiting Phuket, Pattaya, and Bangkok, but there are many beautiful beaches, hikes, and partying venues to experience.

Koh Samui

Koh Samui is Thailand's second largest island (after Phuket) and is located in the Gulf of Thailand approximately 22 km from Surat Thani. Samui is accessible by ferry from Bangkok or Surat Thani, and by air with many flights per day from Bangkok and daily flights from Phuket, Chang Mai, and others. Check [your favourite carrier}. If you are traveling on a budget then consider taking an airconditioned van/bus to Surat Thani and a ferry to the islands.

Samui hosts many activities and attractions including, among other things, shopping, hiking, beaches, food and drink, bars, and more. There are many boat options to take you to the full moon party on Koh Phangan if you choose to go.

Koh Tao

Visit Koh Tao by simply booking a fast ferry from Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. There are other smaller services available (caveat emptor)

Once on the island, you can take the taxi services available, hire a car, or hire a motorbike. There are many places available, but be careful. Take video of the bike before taking it away and, if you can, have a witness to see preexisting damage.
